  • Hi Becca and Andrew

Thank you so much for your kind comments.

Andrew I did have a great time with my camera. It's the first time I've taken my EOS 1D Mk 3 and the 100-400mm lens combo, but I'm pleased that I did. Unfortunately OH found it much heavier than my other kit, but he didn't complain too much.

    Best wishes Chris

Nice to know I'm not the only one with a camera donkey Chris. Fantastic photos. I'm so pleased you didn't end up in the swamp. Don't know if I would trust my OH to hold my legs

    Hi Judi,

Thank you for your kind comments about my photos.

I must admit that it was a leap of faith ageeing to let OH hold my legs while I leaned right over the hand rail. I think to myself now what would have happened if he had suddenly sneezed or had a coughing fit? Fortunately, I survived to tell the tale.

About him being my camera donkey is another story. The Thursday before we went on holiday I was visiting my Chiropractor as I had tweaked my back and he had been treating that for a couple of weeks. He asked me where I was going and when I said Naples, Florida he said he knew of a great Chiropractor there who had lectured all over Europe, and he had been to one of her lectures. However, he couldn't remember her name so he hoped I didn't need her while I was there.

Three days before our trip to Corkscrew Swamp, OH was moving my sun lounger for me (he is my sun lounger mover as well as my camera donkey) and he suddenly said he had hurt his back. I thought he was having a laugh, but he had genuinely hurt his back. He couldn't move very well for a couple of days and I said he needed to see someone to have it looked at. You know how men are sometimes, their pain is always much worse than ours.

Anyway, remembering the fortuitous comment from my Chiropractor, I went to my friend the Concierge and asked for her help to find this female Chiropractor who had lectured all over Europe. She got the phone book and started making calls to each listing in turn and eventually put several sheets of A4 paper under my door telling me all about Trudy Moon Eisel from the Moon Surgery.

Martyn visited her every other day for the rest of our holiday, and he was cured. We made the trip to Corkscrew Swamp after her first treatment. So it really was a leap of faith when I let him hold my legs to stop me falling in the swamp, as at the time he had a trapped nerve in his back......

    Best wishes Chris

  • Chris somehow I managed to miss this wonderful thread.

What stupendous photos of these stunning birds and creatures. The egret is fabulous, but all the photos are excellent. I'm not sure I would have been able to photo the allegator eating the turtle as turtles are very like large tortoises and as you may know, they are my favourite reptiles.

You have more faith in Martyn than I do in my OH ..... but mine is also a packhorse when we go out on our expeditions.

What a wonderful holiday you had.

    Cheers, Linda.
