Hello all
I would love your recommendations for guided botanical holidays, particularly in Europe. I've looked at NatureTrek and Wildlife Travel, and seen Greenwings - but can't find many reviews of the latter. It would be very useful to hear about your experience with different tour operators - pros and cons. Thanks very much.
I did a similar trip last spring and found that local guides with a background in plants made it much more interesting—they pointed out loads I'd have missed otherwise.
We did a botanical tour in Spain with NatureTrek a couple of years ago and it was brilliant—really well-organised with guides who knew their stuff but kept it fun. Haven’t tried Greenwings yet, but I’ve heard good things from a friend who went to the Dolomites with them. Funny enough, we ended up adding a spontaneous explore Egypt leg after that trip using a local tour from Memphis Tours and saw the most surreal desert blooms after rare rain—totally unexpected and beautiful!
I went to Croatia with Naturetrek a couple of years ago and it was fabulous - they were excellent and I know offer botany tours. I was on a Butterfly trip but our two guides had excellent wide ranging knowledge of flora and fauna
