Ive been having a play with haiku over the last couple of weeks (during a bout of man flu!) and I thought I'd throw a couple of my efforts out here for your perusal. For those unfamiliar with the format it's a non-rhyming 3-line poem with five, seven, five syllables. I love the challenge of creating a broad picture on such a narrow canvas.
desperate to breed
restart the cycle of life
urgency of spring

grebe peers through mist on water

mother nature wakes
bursts forth in all her glory
bringing joy to all
grey and gloomy morn
mist and rain obscures the skies
reality check
Depressing wet chill
Every year similar
It is called Summer

Here's one I wrote ages ago but seems maybe appropriate for this time of year - hope you like it...
Feather scythe slicing
Through the summer air, screaming
His joy in Swift song!
Not sure about the word 'screaming' but couldn't think of a better one that would fit.
Dotty
Love it Dotty, and I think screaming is just the right word!
Thanks see gull.
Thought it about time we had another go at Haiku ................
Left out in the cold
I'm waiting on the platform
For updates forthcoming

The big question is.....
Will it be on the right rails ?
or parked in sidings !
