Ive been having a play with haiku over the last couple of weeks (during a bout of man flu!) and I thought I'd throw a couple of my efforts out here for your perusal. For those unfamiliar with the format it's a non-rhyming 3-line poem with five, seven, five syllables. I love the challenge of creating a broad picture on such a narrow canvas.

restart the cycle of life
urgency of spring

Hey you clever lot
This is all too much for me
Fingers and toes busy
Lot to learn
Monitoring food
Watching through the window pane
Two Jays land on tray

not sure the rules of Haiku except for 5, 7, 5 can you have a line that runs on to the next ? ie.,
Spring has arrived with ....
flourish of unfurling leaves
in dappled sunlight

Love those Hazel. I think the rules are pretty flexible - and in any case, if we're having fun who cares? lol
One for the Easter weekend weather ;-)
Atlantic rollers
pounding the jagged headland
Skua aerobatics
"Let loose the Kraken!"
Nice one Stuart

I'm pretty rubbish at this sort of thing. To cover up my poetic inadequacies I've attempted an illustrated version.
Forlornly he seeks
a beauty to share his life.
Could she be the one?

Leaves unfold into the light against harsh thorn you thrive amongst..plain plumaged bird let your song be heard piercing air winter gives to spring..flight be rhythm we speak, song the music we take to heart, colour the emotion we journey with...
Don't put yourself down Tony, that's a beautiful example
Clever lot we have here, like the picture with yours Tony.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
