BIRDING HOLIDAYS

Hi- this is a personal opinion :)

I have done work for Bird tour companies so here is some advice if you are considering doing a guided Bird Tour.

If you haven't done much birding, start small and work up-  do a weekend trip in UK first and then maybe a week .

Before moving on to a trip abroad-

Check out your destination- Fatbirder is a good place to start

Check out the reputation of the co.

Get spp lists of the previous years trip to the same place.

Check what the price includes. ( meals flights etc)

Buy field guides to the place and study what you will see.

If it's your first trip abroad birding try somewhere like Majorca , Camargue or Lesvos first so that the base line birds are similar to UK and you have familiar birds and habitats.

Move on to the U.S.A ( it's big so try california, Texas or Point Pelee first and move on to Florida Alaska Arizona etc)

Try India, Malaysia, Nepal,  and points further east and move on to Australia, Antarctica etc.

S

ps-   have a chapster coming up for a weekends birding end of the month- we should see about 100 spp ( although it's still very early spring in Norfolk ) .  We won't do many miles we'll concentrate on a few good sites in different areas on the 2 days.
