Hi All,
The CA technology saga continues........
If you remember (?) from my two reports, I had a problem with one of my CF cards.Well, I sent it off to a Pro Company to try and recover the photos a few weeks ago.....
The good news is that they managed to recover about 80% of the photos. Yay! I received 3 DVDs with the photos on them yesterday.
The bad news is that 2 out of 3 DVDs failed to load up on my Laptop!
So I have emailed them to request another set......
I'm busy now going over the 100 or so photos I did manage to copy over. On first glance some of them look pretty good, so if it doesn't bore you all too much I might be persuaded to post a few.....
I swear I will never go back there again! Well, I won't bring any gadgets with me.....
Season's Greetings to all!Graham

Oooh, that is good news, though I hope they only charged you 80% of their fee! If you still have the dodgy card, I'll happily pass it to Mr aiki for a look when I see you next. And meanwhile YES please do post some more pics from the trip :)

It is great news Graham, for you and for us (when you post them on here).
What is it with you and gadgets? LOL. I hope they manage to replace the DVD's.
Have a Very Merry Christmas (as no doubt you will. LOL) xxx
Cheers, Linda.

Great news Graham - yes please more photos
Of all creatures, man is the most detestable, he is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ~ Mark Twain
I hope everyone had a great festive period!
I've managed to sort through some of the restored photos. I'm not sure if I have the correct IDs, hopefully someone (aiki?) will set me straight!
Ok, here we go....
I think this one is an Amazon Kingfisher, a juvenile:
There were loads of Black Vultures around, every day we seemed to spot one:
This, I think, is a Black-cheeked Woodpecker, seen in the grounds of one of our hotels:
A lovely Black-crowned Night Heron, seen whilst on a boat in a swamp area:
Also seen there was this scary Caiman:
There were lots of Green Herons about:
In one area we found a group of Green Iguanas, the males were in yellow (breeding plumage?):
Osprey!
Then, whilst having dinner one evening, a Preying Mantis popped in for a visit (and a meal!):
I had to look this one up - I think it is a Swan Goose, but it's a little off the beaten track!
I received 3 DVDs with my retrieved photos on, but 2 of them didn't work! So I have emailed for a resend. If the photos on them are any good, I'll see if I can post up some more....
Best wishes and a Merry New Year!Graham
Oh, brill, lovely photos. Love the night-heron and woodpecker especially. I agree with the IDs (not that I'm familiar with Central American birds beyond what I've seen in books!) though the kingfisher looks to be attaining adult male plumage. The Swan Goose is presumably an escaped domestic (they get quite literally everywhere!) as this species is native to central Asia :) Look forward to seeing more.
Good news, Graham, that they've recovered most of your photos. It would have been a tragedy if all those wonderful memories had been lost.
The ones you've posted so far are great. My favourites are the woodpecker and the night heron. More please when you have time.
