My dream was to see one of these in the wild... and in Antigua on 'Bird Island' I finally did.

Identifying this bird is tricky, as aiki suggested on the Barbados thread, but if we rule out crested because we can't see a crest then there is only green throated that it could be. However this example doesn't have a green throat.
It depends on how big it was but on balance it is more likely to be a female green throated than a female crested
It was a browny/grey underneath and was very very small. Much smaller than I expected. Don't know if that helps? Seen the same ones in Dominica too.
Good point, Woodpecker, there are only two species to choose from! Looking at pics I think it must be a female Antillean Crested Hummingbird: http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Antillean_Crested_Hummingbird - male and female Green-throated Caribs are both iridescent green on the underside.
