Costa Rica Part 4 - Pigeons to Motmots

Inca Doves

Ruddy Ground-Dove

Red-billed Pigeon

White-tipped Dove

White-winged Dove

Parrots and Parakeets, although pretty common were extremely hard to get decent pictures of, with the exception of the biggest and brightest, the Scarlet Macaws.

The Squirrel Cuckoo is just what it says, a Cuckoo that behaves like a Squirrel!

Groove-billed Anis where everywhere (ecept in the south-west, where they are replaced by the almost identical Smooth-billed Ani).

Here's a random selection of Hummingbirds, mostly taken in poor light, so the colours aren't always as per book :-(

Green Violet-ear

Magnificent Hummingbird

Purple-throated Mountain Gem (f)

Rufous-tailed Hummingbird

Scintillant Hummingbird

White-throated Mountain Gem

We also saw the beautiful Snowcap, but it was so dark that the pictures just about make ID shots, if you're feeling generous :-(

Finally, the gorgeous Turquoise-browed Motmot, just quietly sitting in a tree in the hotel grounds.

"Let loose the Kraken!"
