There has been a Snowy owl posing for photographers the last 2 weeks on the île de Ré off the coast of Charente maritime, France. It is in an area of oysterbeds & mainly on private land & most people have been happily viewing from a distance with the odd exception. We've not been to look but the photos are superb, it's like a huge cuddly toy. These I think are the best so far http://www.faune-charente-maritime.org/index.php?m_id=54&backlink=skip&mid=12845 . If you click HERE you can see the collection so far.
Enjoy!
Best wishes

Noisette, what a fantastic owl! Beautiful photos.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
LOVE IT! Well done, Noisette.
