Fourth and final part ( I think ) are a couple of non-native species.
Waxbills
Heading for his nest site.
These are Crested Mynahs. Each evening just as the sun disappears below the horizon they come into the town centre to roost in the park. The light fades rapidly once the sun sets so you'll have to excuse the poor quality. The only time we saw them in full daylight we couldn't get near them.
EDIT. I forgot these two shots of a Jay in the earlier posts so I'll stick 'em on here.

We'd heard there were Crested Mynahs at a location some miles outside Lisbon but we were surprised to come across them in the centre of Setubal quite by accident. We were taking a shortcut through this little park area when we heard a commotion in the trees. The resident Blackbird wasn't keen on sharing his roost for the night with a bunch of foreigners. He chased them from the Plane tree to the Palm tree and back again.
It just goes to show, you never know what you are going to see next and that's what I like about this hobby :) Seems the Blackbirds are as bossy over there as they are here LOL
Thanks for posting Galatas, the photos are so interesting. Along with yours now I have been to Sri Lanka, Trinidad/Tobago, last week and Kefalonia and Lisbon this week, can't be bad, and all with just a click of the mouse.
Lot to learn
Thanks Gaynor. There are a few general photos from the region in my gallery if you would like to see them. More will be added when I have been through them all.
I remember seeing the Waxbillls when I was in Portugal although didn't manage to get any photos. Don't think I saw any Mynahs.
Glad you had a good trip and thanks for posting your sightings.

I think I'd have to pick the Bee Eaters for their colour alone.
