I'm back from my trip to Portugal. The weather was glorious , seven days of blue skies and sunshine with the temperature reaching 25 degress by mid afternoon. Sadly the birding was a little disappointing compared to my previous trips to southern Portugal. The number of species seen was much less than we anticipated nevertheless there were some highlights and lots of photos taken.
Lots of Bee eaters around.
Swifts galore screaming across the sky especially over the town centre where they nest on the tall buildings.
Barn Swallows
Red-rumped Swallows too
A beakful of mud for the nest.
Hiouse Martins also busy at the nest

Lovely photos. The Bee-eaters are absolute stunners. Great to see baby Swallows already. At least some of the swifts look to be Pallids, the last one in particular is surely a Pallid Swift.

Stunning photos Galatas, cracking in flight shots and the Barn Swallow feeding his mate was amazing, great timing. The Bee Eater is so very colourful and exotic, would love to see one of those. Thanks for sharing and glad you had such a great trip.

Thanks for that Aiki. We did wonder as there appeared to be two distinct types in the air at once.
Thanks for the comment Hazy.
Fantastic photos

You've done very well with the flight shots of some fast flying species here Galatas - I guess that good light, allowing fast shutter speeds helped, but it still can't have been easy.

I don't think I'd describe Pallid Swifts as particularly distinct! Definitely some Pallid in these shots though (the last three swift photos I reckon)

Birds I've never seen, amazing. Love the colours of the bee eaters, and are the barn swallows bigger than ours, what a shot of them feeding in mid-air. Fantastic, well done Galatas.
Lot to learn
Great flight shots, Galatas. Lovely to see the Bee-eaters, such exotic looking birds.
