Mike, here is the intro. Thanks. Karen
Last season Maya, the resident Manton Bay female, surprised us arriving back 12 March the earliest date ever recorded at a UK public nest. The resident male, Blue 33(11), her mate since 2015, arrived two days later on 14 March and the pair successfully raised two healthy chicks. More details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Here’s wishing Maya and Blue 33 a safe journey home and for another successful season.

Birdies LG DU update.
I hope Maya appears so you have the pleasure of seeing her see the EGs off LOL Sandra, Marie posted there were 5 ospreys around. We know of four! Do you know if Green 5N is back? And do you know who the intruding osprey was yesterday? LOL - questions, questions :-D
Sandra - thanks for confirming Green 5N is safely back. Wonderful news.
I hope you enjoyed your shift - pity no osps about.
ENS just now.
Hi Cirrus, no I don't have a source at Rutland. Sandra who chats to us, regularly blogs here and she also volunteers, She is doing so just now (early shifts) and we are fortunate to get some on the spot reporting from her.
As to 33 being late? IMO I don't think he is! Here is a list of his return dates and I think we need to be realistic that last year he was exceptionally early.
2015 - April 6
2016 - March 27
2017 - March 22
2018 - March 14
Also of interest is that I noticed Alan posted on his Osprey Sightings thread that movement is a little slower this year.
Personally I think 33 is due back about now and not late but that is just my opinion.
