A new month and lots to look forward to as we eagerly await these precious eggs which Maya and Blue 33(11) have devotedly protected, hatch!
For anyone new and just starting to watch the Rutland Manton Bay Webcam, here is a brief summary of the 2016 season so far:
The resident female, Maya returned 21 March. Her mate Blue 33(11) returned 27 March. Maya has laid three eggs, #1 on 4 April, #2 on 7 April and #3 on 10 April. Maya and 33(11) are currently sharing incubating duties and we should see a hatch around the second week in May.
Happy viewing
Good morning, Karen! Thank you for starting the new thread.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Maya dozing off .... not long until morning and hopefully a lovely sunrise to start the day

Your wish was granted Karen. 33 incubating on a frosty nest but the sun coming up and about to glare out the wide angle.

Birdies LG DU update.
I missed the change over but Maya is now on the eggs.
Thanks for the lovely early morning capture Mike and Good Morning to you.
Maya still incubating. She has given the eggs a turn and settled again.
Good Morning MIKE and KAREN
Trying to work out here when we should see the first hatch - perhaps around 10 May?
I wonder how 33 will react this season? His face last year was a picture - he looked quite stunned when he arrived back at the nest and saw his very first chick LOL
Morning Patily :-)
33 arrives
Maya looks at his talons but no fish, just some nesting material.
33 standing by Maya. Maya appears to be nibbling his talons. Is this her way of telling him to go fishing ?
33 now flown.
And back with more nesting material in his talons
And now a little rest after all that hard work :-)
