When is the Common Uncommon?

I went on one of the boat trips around Havergate today, all the way around the Island and a little time on land to check out a hide as well.  One of the highlights of the trip was the chance to see some Common seals at the entrance to Butley River - they pull themselves out on the mud in the sunshine,  Technically that mud belongs to the Boyton reserve, but it was a Havergate trip, so I feel justified in writing the thread here :-)

They're curious about the boat, not too sure what to make of it

There were only the two today, in the winter you get larger numbers

Once we decided to move on, they slipped into the water, making sure we weren't going to double back

And one decided we were undesirable and needed chasing away - not seen one do this before along the river!
