Blue tits emptying their nest?

Hello Jane,

unfortunately I am not an expert. My idea is that it could be another couple of Blue Tits taking the material away for a nest of their own, and so stealing it from the couple in your nest box. I am sure that I have heard about other birds doing such a thing, but I am not certain about Blue Tits. Maybe other people here have a better idea.

Thanks! That's a possibility! They haven't abandoned it completely and there's time yet! I wonder if they put some nesting material in to reserve it and have chosen a different site!?
