Blue Tit Clutch not all hatched

Hello,

We have a nesting box with a camera in and, for the first time in three years, we have had a blue tit move in and lay eggs.

She laid nine in total of which six have hatched last week from Thursday until Saturday.

The chicks are all feeding well and both adults are constantly back and forth albeit the mother is still sitting on the nest frequently.

Is this normal or is this because three of the eggs haven't hatched? Are they likely to do now? Is there anything we need to do?

Any advice welcome.

Thank you.

  • Not all eggs hatch, We had Blue Tits lay 9 eggs in 2 of our next boxes this year. One pair hatched 5 chicks and they all fledged this morning. The other pair hatched at least 8 chicks and I think they are all still with us, it's difficult to do an accurate count of the 'bundle' of chicks. Fingers crossed that they'll be fledging in 4 or 5 days time.
