To the Brilliance of Birds

The dawn came up like thunder

Sun beams smote like velvet voile

A chorus of calls and noise of motion

Wings beating and flocks soaring

Up and up in the chill of the morn

Greeting the world and one another

Announcing a new day to one and all

Left behind, looking up, I smiled

But a tear dimmed my vision

Just briefly for joy, and a wonder

Of nature settled upon me

Of birds in their beauty of soft

Feathered attire and their bright

Eyes glinting in the sunlight

  • Thats a jolly nice poem there. Thanks

I love the peaceful words and images given through poetry.

Thanks Cirrus for sharing such a beautiful poem.

I wonder in reply may I share one with you.

    A Birds Story

Side by side as good and evil collide

She is the owl of sunlight

He is a rogue displaying black plumage

Spreading their wings of timeless wisdom

Opaque eyes his chirp a sinister omen

    Feared for centuries this messenger

    of doom. Perched upon myths

of legend, he tries to rid himself of this dismal

moniker. Jealous of the doves’ attention he flies

though eerie skies of crimson dawn, searching

    abandoned souls for recognition.

    Gliding, soaring and believing

    The simple blessings every

    Living and breathing being

    Shares

    Her presence is to remind

    Ignite fires of innocence

All inherited but lost in pain

She satisfies a hunger far beyond

    The mental and physical desires

She provides a spiritual thirst to feed our divine will

From a well that cannot measure or run low

    A determined will that knows

No spectrum of darkness or burning light

Caw, caw; his rallying cry pierces the night

I am so much more, for I to have a luminous side

I feel as the dove feels peaceful meandering yet

Still reviled. Let her and I fly simultaneously amongst

    The living and the dead.

    A transparent and recognizable glare

By just one glance through the windows

    Of each soul

The window that gazes and searches

    For bliss

An eternal connection to the brilliance

    Sparking purpose from the miracle

Of five senses aligning and capturing life

    No longer scattered

The message is carried even through moonlight

    Their wings bless every sky

    Crow and Dove

    Justice reigns and call

    Glory

    Glory

    Glory

    Without an end

  • That's a lot of food for thought , Mitch - thanks for that.  I like the part about  "The simple blessings every living & breathing being shares",  and the "perched upon myths of legend".   I always think its a shame that most b. of prey are much maligned and have a sinister label, as if its their fault that they have evolved in that way.

  • That is food for thought Mitch ! I need to meditate on that  and keep having a re-read. You obvioiulsy felt passionate about your subject  It's very thought provoking. Thank you.
