Hi all,
Thanks for your patience over the last week or so while the community has been in lockdown. Good news – the upgrade has now been implemented and you’re free to start commenting and posting across the community again.
With the upgrade I’m sure you’ll notice quickly that there are some minor differences in how you find and create posts, please give it a bit of time to get used to it. To help we’re producing some step by step guides about the most commonly used feature’s on here which will be posted in this thread as well. We're hoping to have these live by the end of the week.
While the community has been thoroughly checked we’re sure that the eagle-eyed amongst you will find some issues so please if you do find any errors drop them in this thread that we’ll be moderating to make sure any issues are picked up on and corrected asap.
We know you’ve been keen to get some new features on the community as part of the upgrade and I have some news on that as well.
Thanks again for the enthusiasm and support, we hope you like it.

Korky said:Now I get 'too large' all the time. I don't want to spend time resizing my screen grabs, then posting. If I use 100x100 my photos are too small.
The imposed limit of 1024kb is too small I think we all agree on that. Whether we can get the powers that be to increase it remains to be seen.
However, Korky, it's not the dimensions you need to worry so much about but reducing the resolution of your screen grabs. For example, I grabbed a full screen of the Loch Garten feeder which came out at 4.85 Mb which is too large to post. Using some relatively simple tools I reduced the size to 233kb without changing the dimensions. Here's the result which doesn't look too bad.
A bit of a nuisance I know but I don't think there's much alternative at the moment. If you click on the image it opens full size.

that looks pretty good Tony, as you say a bit of a faff to get there but it works.

That does look good TeeJay. Now I just have to open my tool box.... aka consult my more technically minded other half
Nice phot TJ, that is what I am trying to do at present. Much the same photo as well. Tried to post it twice, once I picked it from my camera roll, it shows in the post but I see nowhere about changing the size. When I hit reply it does not post and an error occurred message comes up in the top right hand corner, over the profile logo!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Will it, won't it post!
Weheeeeyyy. Now I have learned to pick the photo from the photos and not camera roll! Just have to work out the size now!
Please Please Liisten to these comments, as these members, for instance Scilla is absolutely indispensible in several areas/threads with her daily monitoring of nests. (Osprey and Owl that I know of. )
Personally I find the layout confusing, and messy, and the font too small and faint, and once it is nesting season it will be all too much trouble to follow the many threads that I have done for years, ie since this forum started. Not often posting, but reading a lot!!
I cannot complete the revised survey, I just get a Thank You message. Other members have found the same.
My honest, considered opinion is that there is nothing that the RSPB Digital Team can do, even with the best will in the world, to create a user-friendly Community on this platform.
I will be delighted if proved wrong.

That’s what I found as well. But I tried another Browser and was able to get into the revised survey. I was using Safari the standard Apple iPad browser, but I used chrome instead and was able to complete the revised survey.

Ian.
Same here Ian, called it up on my tablet whereas before I had used laptop ... maybe you can do it on your phone Scylla?

I found the same as you, Scylla. I did it on Chrome, and it came up with Thank You, but I will have a go on FF or on my tablet.
