.......... for the grey herons, at least. Despite it being a rather fresh day at Abberton Reservoir on Thursday the herons were clearly gearing up for Spring:
Apparently they are a bit of an early nesting bird but I was still surprised to see this level of activity in January!
I love seeing these in flight - well, that applies to all of the heron family, really.
I believe they are already nesting in Regent's Park

Yep, it's time to get the net checked on our pond. There's a heron that likes to make an annual visit, and a perfect photocall as well.

I noticed a lot of our local herons were 'hiding' in the trees the other day and then I saw one come down and collect a large branch, so it certainly looks like nesting has started up in the north, too.
