My birding pal and I have just booked our flights to Lisbon for mid April 2013. We've done Faro / Monte Gardo / Donana areas in previous years and want to look somewhere new. We've already gathered lots of information off the internet but if anyone has any personal experience or recommendations to pass on we'd be very grateful. We'll be based at Setubal outside Lisbon. Leaving aside the affluent golf resorts , living standards generally seem very modest. Apartment blocks seem to be the norm in most newer towns but we did see some nice houses , not unlike we are used to at home except for being brightly painted. We only saw one shanty town and even they had satellite TV and decent cars.
Probably like little palaces inside!
