In total we saw 164 species in 15 days - not too bad considering we spent most of our time hiking, but nothing compared to what you would see on a dedicated birding holiday... There are, after all, 850 species recorded in Costa Rica ;-)
"Let loose the Kraken!"
Thanks, we did have a great time - when I get too old to hike I think I'll go back for a pure birding holiday ;-)
Some bonus non-bird wildlife :-)
Coatis - they were causing a traffic jam as they mugged tourists (and locals) for food.
These frogs are really, really tiny.
Spider Monkeys
Squirrel Monkey
Tapir and baby
Three-toed Sloth. This chap apparently climbed the tree opposite our chalet every afternoon at 4pm :-)
