Just starting off with a link to last years thread here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/201672/dazzling-damsels-and-dragons-2019#pifragment-4285=1
About a week ago the large Red Damsels arrived
& then yesterday caught a glimpse of a Broad Bodied Chaser
it then flew off across a field.
Happy hunting & stay safe all.
Best wishes

Lot to learn
Spotted this around our pond yesterday, really not sure of its ID, help please. So far have only found Large Red Damselfly and Common Blue so its this a female common blue?

It's a Blue-tailed Damselfly - that full segment of blue near the end of the abdomen is the giveaway. A fairly wide spread species, but still nice to add to your garden list. Females come in a variety of colour forms, including pink and purple, so keep an eye out for them.
I actually had one to put up as well - a green form female, but the tail segment is still blue

Thanks and yes. They don't all sit and pose for you to fill the frame, but eventually you'll find one that does
Sounds like you need to consider a taller plant (or just a twig) by the edge for them to perch on while you take their photo ... says the non-gardener
