Road works and trail repairs

If you are planning to visit Minsmere over the next week or so, please be aware that there may be some disruption due to planned roadworks and trail repairs, and our annual stock take.

Full details of the planned work are outlined below. During this work, all other facilities will remain open, as usual, and there will still be loads of amazing wildlife to spot.

Stock-taking. Tuesday 26 March. The shop will be closed from 2 pm. The cafe and reception will remain open as normal, but please do your shopping on arrival.

Pot-hole repairs on our entrance roads. Regular visitors will be aware that there are several large potholes in various places along our entrance roads - both on the Westleton and Eastbridge roads. We have contractors coming on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 March to carry out repairs to both sections of road, as well as the section between Scotts Hall and the car park. In order to complete these works there will be some traffic control measures in place, which may result in delays of several minutes getting into and out of the reserve. We'll try to minimise this as far as possible, but please be patient as the repairs are necessary. Your car will thank you once the repairs are completed.

Island Mere path closure. Monday 1 April. The path into Island Mere Hide will be closed all day to allow us to raise the level of the path and (hopefully) reduce the likelihood of future flooding which has blighted us at various points over the last couple of winters. The work should be completed in one day, weather permitting. All other paths will remain open as usual, and you'll be able to scan the mere, albeit distantly, from the Whin Hill Watchpoint.

Please note that these plans may be subject to change in the event of bad weather. Please check at reception for the latest plans.
