Happy Easter to all

Alan says. . . . Another hot day. Even hotter than yesterday with the temp now 24.8c .
Hey Alan - Hot????? We call that "mild". Today expecting 23C here, currently 22.6C.

I have some catching up to do. My apologies to those whose questions I’ve not answered.

Sheila says AQ . . . . I love your travelogue! You are so descriptive and your photos are lovely too. I take it you have an interest in churches. Is this from an historical perspective, or architectural?
Sheila - Both really. I like old things and I love the stonework and shape of old churches. I don’t go into it too deeply. Couldn’t name the styles.

OG says AQ . . . . Oh dear! Sorry the paint saga doesn’t have a happy ending. Is it just reflecting the colour of the carpet?
OG - We thought at first it was just the reflection but we have laid a quite red Turkish mat across one end and paint is still greenish. We shall just have to buy more paintings and cover the walls as I saw in some stately homes in England. LOL

  • Thanks Brenda for the tip about clicking on the dreaded red cross to see the pic. I need not miss out any more.

Get well soon Annette and anyone else "under the weather".

We watched the wedding last evening. I enjoy watching the precision and pageantry. The Brits do know how to put on a spectacular show. We watched on ABC TV until they decided to put on the news for ½ hour just as the royals & b'maids were leaving for the Abbey!!! Switched to another channel, then after ½ hour they decided to show football. Back to the original. I believe some pubs declared themselves wedding-free zones for the occasion. LOL

Just before lunch today a power failure. Light rain falling at the time so no idea why. Restored 2¼ hours later. Luckily we have a gas stove.

  • Oh my. It's just gone 10 and Cameron has just been interviewed; now Boris Hohnson - folks are cheering a parade of empty vehicles en route to somewhere.  Hmmm.  Never mind Posh, Mr. B looks like he's not sure whether to smile or not!  Love the trees in the Abbey.  Think I'll hit the Pause button and come back tomorrow for Part 2.

  • Thank you so much for that link Terry M, I was so disappointed I'd missed such an event. BTW - it's good to ''see'' you again

Diane - I  am so relieved to hear all is well with you apart from a little stiffness cos of mowing. Pictures in newspapers (I don't take newspapers or read them and I've hardly seen a news on telly recently) in the staff restaurant last night of the mayhem in southern States horrified me. I called my friend in Kentucky as soon as I got home - emails take too long to get answers. He's fine too.

Hello to every one - it's a hiking day for me so not much posting from me today (not that I seem to do a lot on Chat !  nothing of interest to tell you LoL ) but thanks so much for all the wedding pics - glorious. Super one of the Spitfire too. And for all your news on your ''doings''.

Glad the fish tank is sorted OG , now you can just sit back and enjoy a good look . Reasonable news about son too - hope it turns into really good news. Do hope he finds the confidence to accept the proposal.

  • Thanks Diane re Endeavour.

Morning everyone, lovely sunny morning here, though the pesky easterlies are keeping the temps down. Hope you all have a good day.

For those of you in the UK confused by the referendum next Thursday (5th May) here is a very interesting guide.  It is the Cats v Dogs  election.

Have just got round to watching this Tiger, thanks it was great. Guess what I will be voting for!  :)

  • Just got round to watching the cats v dogs thingy Tiger. I was always going to vote for AV anyway so no change there then. Its hypocritical to campaign against it by any of the parties. We need change and we need it now.

  • we'll have more hung parliaments Alan                  ?

  • Good Morning ALL. The sun is shining but everywhere was still wet earlier from last night and overnight rain. I don't think I have ever sat watching television for so long as I did yesterday, so went out for an early walk this morning. as I felt so stiff. Lovely to hear and see all the birds.

OG, Obviously you know your own son best and will know what work will suit him best. I do think that most of us would find his hours of work difficult to cope with. I hope he can cope this week and then the reduced and regular afternoon hours will suit him better. You both must worry so much about him.

Margo, Enjoy your weekend. You may find London is still very crowded.

Linda,  If you haven't already left, do enjoy seeing your son and sweetpea.

I hope all of you that have not been feeling 100% are so much better this morning.

Going to chance hanging some washing out this morning.

  • There is a new blog from Stephanie.

  • Intrigued by comments re the York sisters, I googled to have a look – defies comment!!!  Incidentally, I can’t see why Samantha Cameron is being criticised – I thought she looked really good, much more elegant and comfortable than anyone wearing those silly concoctions on their heads!  Won’t comment any more on that event – just don’t expect me to wear fancy dress to Grandson’s wedding in July!!

Annette – pleased you are feeling better but sorry your OH now has whatever-it-is – hope you will both be fully recovered soon.  Rose garden then beach sounds much pleasanter than earth diggers and movers – especially with the Whale sighting!  Flower on card was Azalea – with Euonymous leaves creeping into the picture – taken earlier, now looks like this:

Diane – in the UK, Jackdaws circling are said to foretell rain – I hope it’s not the same with your Crows!  I think they were most likely enjoying the better weather and probably circling together in a thermal, enjoying the freedom after being hunkered down somewhere to sit out the recent storms.  Pleased you are happy with the new lawnmower – but sorry you felt so tired after cutting the grass.

Cirrus – hope you are having a good hike again today.  Fish all present and correct this morning – also bought three “Assassin Snails” – supposed to eat the smaller snails which always appear when adding new plants to the tank.

Not doing much today – will just carry on gently with the garden.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
