Happy Easter to all
Alan says. . . . Another hot day. Even hotter than yesterday with the temp now 24.8c .Hey Alan - Hot????? We call that "mild". Today expecting 23C here, currently 22.6C.
I have some catching up to do. My apologies to those whose questions I’ve not answered.
Sheila says AQ . . . . I love your travelogue! You are so descriptive and your photos are lovely too. I take it you have an interest in churches. Is this from an historical perspective, or architectural? Sheila - Both really. I like old things and I love the stonework and shape of old churches. I don’t go into it too deeply. Couldn’t name the styles.
OG says AQ . . . . Oh dear! Sorry the paint saga doesn’t have a happy ending. Is it just reflecting the colour of the carpet? OG - We thought at first it was just the reflection but we have laid a quite red Turkish mat across one end and paint is still greenish. We shall just have to buy more paintings and cover the walls as I saw in some stately homes in England. LOL
Margobird I do so agree with everything you say. Despite the pomp and circumstance it seemed like a lovely, happy family wedding. And the bride's dress almost exceeded expectations - it just seemed perfectly in tune with her style, elegant but simple. Great to see the Queen smiling and chatting.
A wonderful prattle thank you Sheila. But I would have loved to have seen this...........................
BBC has just shown a clip of one of the clergy doing cartwheels down the red carpet in the Abbey!!!! Just about sums up an excellent day for them all.
Fancy missing that !!
Well, what a lovely dress! I wish I looked so elegant when I got married, but I’ll never be elegant :( Lovely music too (that’s the only reason I watched, of course :)) Don’t know what I was doing when Princess Anne got married in 1973, but this is the first royal wedding I’ve had a tv for since I got married. Thanks to Margo and Sheila for lovely descriptions. Wish I’d seen cartwheels down the red carpet! Like Cirrus, I missed the actual vows when I nipped upstairs.
One of Phoebe’s eggs hatched yesterday, I haven’t watched since the last pair were popping out of the nest!
Gary, saw your youtube vid of Toffee in the water, what a clever girl! More please!
Alan and Annette, sorry to hear you’re not feeling too well. I had my first cold since about last spring two weeks ago (my first osprey duty day) and it still hasn’t quite gone. Hope Hamish’s foot improves.
Lynette, lovely Misty!
OG, sorry your son is not managing his job and feels he has to leave, hope he finds something suitable soon.
I have the apple blossom on my desktop now, dibnlib, thanks.
Tiger, thanks for the cats’ view on AV LOL!
Chloe, I just watched some grebes doing their mating dance on Youtube, excellent!

Well done TerryM, I have just found it on the Telegraph site too.
Rats.....I missed the Sea King flypast. some on the prune website(RAF Aircrew) thought it was much better value than the Tornado/ Typhoon 4ship which was not the RAF at its' best . Liked the helmet that said "Congratulations from the BBMF" Hopefully I will see the Sea King on the news later. Also want to know "Where were The Red Arrows"?
Thanks for the link to the acrobatic clergy......well done to him
What an emotional day. It was, I hope, everything that the young couple hoped it would be - a happy, family occasion without too much formality. Its all the little things that I'll remember - Kate's tiny smile when she heard the roar outside the Abbey as they were pronounced 'Man & Wife' - Prince Philip saying something funny to make Pippa laugh, on the balcony - HM Queen saying it was 'Amazing' as she stepped out of her carriage.
And what a perfect dress! I was very surpised that she had lace, but it looked just wonderful and the train was so unfussy and well, elegant. It reminded me a little of the Queens own dress from all those years ago. (apart from her train, of course which was much bigger and lacy) Of course it's great to sit and pronounce on all the various wedding outfits - some sooo elegant, some not so - but what on earth were Beatrice & Eugenie wearing?? My sis-in-law has just said on the phone that they looked like the Ugly Sisters in pantomime, and she's not far wrong -who on earth advised them on what to wear?
Great to see so much coverage on what people in the street were doing and saying - plenty of them, too! A great deal of fun had by all, and thank goodness the rain held off for them.
Looking forward to much coverage by the newspapers tomorrow - there were lots of opportunities for their pictures, that's for sure. I'm off now to raise a glass to the happy couple, and to have another sit down - I'm whacked!
I agree with you Linda especially about Beatrice & Eugenie. I would also add that it was lovely to see William tell Kate that she looked beautiful. It is so obvious how much in love they are. I loved all the music. Kate's sister was also so elegant. I will be watching at 8.30pm to see the arrivals to the evening dinner.
Just seen Kate's second ( white) dress of the day which she is wearing this evening.
