12.7.21 - LR2 fledged at 53 days old, c17:40 Blog: LR2 fledges
From little 'fluff balls' to almost fully grown ospreys, LR1 and LR2 are doing amazingly well all thanks to the fantastic ongoing care from NC0 and Laddie (LM12). Not only have we seen Laddie providing fish for his family but NC0 has been successful several times just recently as well - what first-class parents they are! There continues to be the occasional intrusion from ospreys passing through, however, the nest and chicks have been protected outstandingly. We look forward to the next exciting phase in the young ospreys' development.

15:00 What a palaver to claim Laddie's 'live' flapping fish delivery this was! NC0 and LR2 were on the nest (as per my last post)
The fish was flapping quite a bit in that area of the nest, LR2 tried to grab it
LR2 raised his wings and NC0 appeared to panic...
...and ended up clattering over the front of the nest. With the movements I heard, she must have flown off ok afterwards
.
LR2 almost fell off too...
...but managed to cling on to the edge of the nest to get back on
He quickly found the fish in the middle of the nest and claimed it

17:15 Laddie with a headless fish to LR1
She flew off nest with it
BFN
19:56 Headless fish from NC0. LR2 was on the perch and ready to take it from her
LR1 arrived but of course, was too late
NC0 left he nest and settled on top of her branch on the birch
After tucking in to the fish for a few minutes, LR2 left the nest with it
20:20 Scene at present, LR1 resting on the nest
20:22 As I was posting above, Laddie delivered a huge fish to LR1
She told Laddie in no uncertain terms to 'clear off!'
Part-way through eating, something bothered her
She flapped her way over to the left side and flew off, dropping the fish on the nest
She was only away for around a minute and came back to the fish
20:36
Still not comfortable, she flew off with the fish making alarm calls
20:41 Laddie to the nest (no fish with him)
LR1 came back with her meal, Laddie flew off shortly after
She continued to eat...
...until she flew off with the fish again at 20:50 (LR1, I think, was spooked by something)
Maybe this was the culprit
20:53 Laddie to the nest, the Raven shot off before he arrived
NC0 joined him (good to see her after this afternoon's 15:00 incident)
NC0 fish calling
Laddie left the nest, NC0 stayed for a couple more minutes before leaving at 20:57ish
21:14 ENS since NC0 left
21:38 NC0 to the nest quickly followed by LR1
LR1 left the nest. Another Osprey is on the birch
21:47 NC0 continuing to fish call
NC0 still in the same position at time of posting
22:02 NC0 flew from the nest and headed around the left of the birch, out of view
Good morning NC0 was first to the nest this morning at 6am and was joined first by LR2 then LR1 - all three were fish calling.
Left to right - LR2 (69 days old), LR1 (71 days old), NC0
After waiting a while with her youngsters, NC0 flew off and, just after 6:30, came to the nest (almost skidding on!) with the first catch of the day - LR1 claimed the fish
Finally, after her struggle to take it
LR1 left the nest with her breakfish after tucking in for a few minutes
8:07 ENS at present. LR2 has yet to have a fish delivered to him
