Mike, here is the intro. Thanks. Karen
Last season Maya, the resident Manton Bay female, surprised us arriving back 12 March the earliest date ever recorded at a UK public nest. The resident male, Blue 33(11), her mate since 2015, arrived two days later on 14 March and the pair successfully raised two healthy chicks. More details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Here’s wishing Maya and Blue 33 a safe journey home and for another successful season.

Birdies LG DU update.
FISH ..... Oh, good boy :-)
33 enjoying a well earned lie down while Maya is away eating her fish
Then does a spot of nest cupping 16.50
and then he flies - confirming it was he in the nest! LOL

Maya returns with the fish and Blue 33 makes way to take it. Instead of handing over .. Maya pecks him !!! Maya then takes off with the fish.
Poor 33 has now flown up to the camperch.
Maya returns empty taloned
And close behind her, 33 arrives to the nest also empty taloned.
What a shame !!!
Never mind, plenty more where that came from :-)
They started their day in the usual way but one of them has been on the nest flapping with raised wings since.
