Yesterday at Leighton Moss I had just decided to move hides and had put my camera lens cap on, switched my camera off, when a bright streak of blue caught my eye. Yes a kingfisher had landed on a log, right in front of me. I quickly hurried to get the lens cap off, switch on and... Yes!!! you guessed it, he'd gone. I waited a while to see if he was going to return but he didn't. Ok I missed the Kingfisher photograph so was feeling quite deflated but the day was made bright again, (it was raining on and off all day) by the fellow in the photograph below just sat there. I sat there ages waiting for him to stand up so I might get a picture of him on all fours but unlike the kingfisher he was in no hurry to move anywhere and so I had to leave him to it.

I could kick myself now as I had the perfect opportunity with him being quite settled to play with F stops and other settings to give him more of the focus against the background, to get that much better shot. Well only a relative newbie with the camera (april) so will know if I ever get a chance like that again.
Stunning pic swamp donkey! Hopefully you'll get your chance with the kingfisher again. Our wardens have put a new perch infront of Eric Morecambe hide, and there are a lot of new fence posts down at the saltmarsh too, so kingfisher sightings have been very regular there over the past few weeks.
It looks like he was posing for you, what a gorgeous beast and well caught swampdonkey!
