Thanks to the Malpass's for today's really excellent and informative Marsh Harrier walk! Had a great day at the reserve (in SUNshine no less!) and saw plenty of both male and female harriers - first proper view for me, and they didn't disappoint. For pictures, they were all a tad distant even at 500mm, but I gave it a shot.
Bandit at 1 o'clock! Swift in hot pursuit here!
Handsome male seen from Public Hide - a fair old distance away though!
Hardly measuring up to Mike Malpass's superb pictures but I hope it gives a flavour.
As a relatively new birder, this Greenshank from Eric Morecambe hide was a "lifer" for me!
And yes, the Little Egret that was snoozing in view of Griesdale looked up and turned out to be a Spoonbill - another "lifer" - what a great day!
Thanks to Leighton, staff and volunteers.
Paul
