Just had one of the best birding mornings for a long time. Five individual bitterns, flying and sunbathing all over Lillian's and the public meres. Four otters playing on the piblic mere, Marsh Harrier and Water Rail.
It does not get better than this, Leighton Moss is amazing!

Hi JKJ, we're so glad you had a great time at Leighton Moss, it looks like you got in all our star species, the bitterns, otters, marsh harrier and water rail. Hopefully we'll see you again soon.

My pal and I are hoping to visit on Tuesday. Can you keep everything simmering until we get there ? Oh and fix some decent weather for us too LOL

Hi Galatas, I can't promise anything, but the otters are out on the reserve most days, the bitterns are frequently seen from Public hide and the marsh harriers are quite active too. That plus the green winged teal is here today and the female smew yesterday. There's usually something going on here, I'm afraid we can't do anything about the weather though.
