We called in on Sunday on the first day of a week long stay in the area. A marvellous start to the week with Otters x3 in view from the Public Hide plus a Bittern, Goldeneye x10, Marsh Harrier x2 and a Hen Harrier and several Bearded Tits by the grit trays. We saw pretty much the same again yesterday with the addition of Greenshank x5.
Only one Marsh Harrier seen today but a big increase in Bearded Tit numbers with up to eleven on the grits trays together and even a Cetti's Warbler briefly feeding below the trays. A large flock of Bearded Tit 33+ crossed the track just along from the grit trays.
A Great White Egret was the main attraction for me today as it's the first one I've seen this year. Whilst distant to view from the Tim Jackson Hide it gave very good views in the open along with Little Egret x5 and two red deer including a male with a fine set of antlers.
Hi Ian,
What an impressive selection of wildlife you saw! Seeing 33 bearded tits is a special sight and also seeing 3 otters and a great white egret-lovely!! Thanks for posting and sharing your visit. Hope you visit again soon, Jen
