I had great views of a water rail on the footpath to Tim Jackson hide. It was helping itself to the food left for smaller birds on a fallen tree and almost came too close for the new lens I was trying out. I usually struggle to focus through the reeds as they skulk about but this one was very bold.

It is great when a usually shy bird poses for you and you've got some fabulous shots. I was there on Monday and it was doing the same!

Lovely shots of the rail Andy, they are going to have to rewrite the books on these birds as the LM ones are no longer shy !!

Thanks for the positive comments. In 9 years visiting Leighton Moss I've never had such a good view of a water rail.
Very nice Andy, looks like you have a nice lens and pin sharp, and I know the spot were the pictures were taken :)
