The ring thing come with the lens, Wendy, its so you can move the tripod forward to get nearer to the centre of gravity when a camera is attached so not to put strain on the camera housing the ring takes all the strain shown in all of the pictures.

Is your camera a Canon with a 50x optical zoom, if so I think you should be able to just use a tripod head like the one I put on this base I made like in the first picture but sadly you would only be able to use it on the window bottom depending on the hide window shape, the beauty of the Lens ring is I can rotate the whole setup if the base is attached to the side or top of the window frame and still have the camera the right way round.

Yes J that's my cam!  Will show OH your pics & dragoon him into fashioning something, don't mind that I can only use bottom of window frame ... best for me to stay right way up!! Lol

Funny you should mention about football ha ha - it's Saturday & he's watching Match of the Day ... or whatever it's called these days!!

The bathroom should be ready then seeing it the smallest room in the house :)

That may be J but it requires the most thinking about (materials purchased but my 'labourer' has been slacking!) Lol  In his (& my) defence, this weekend has been overtaken with the two young boys ... not conducive to painting & decorating however much they would love to muck in!!  CBeebies instead of any sport too!

There is a thing called a whip, Wendy, I’m sure your 'labourer' would get his backside off what ever its on and get on with the job if it was shown to him :)
