Tempted to pop over to the lake tomorrow - is it all scenic with the snow or is tonight's weather forcast to wash the snow away ?
Would love to take some snowy scenic photos.

More snow forecast for Friday afternoon and overnight into Saturday. Travelling could prove difficult in North Wales. If I was thinking of going at all I think Sunday might be the better day with a chance of some brightness.
Jenni Morgan should be able to give you first hand information on current conditions.

There are some wonderful roads leading to Lake Vernwy but if there is much snow around it's best to reach the lake from the East. I've found the other mountain pass roads have fairly steep hills.
That is such a wonderful drive there, wish I was up that way now. A friend and I tried to reach the lake from Bala (West side) a couple of winters ago but couldn't make it.
Thank you for the replies.
I've been many times before and I know from experience not to try the western access in the ice (4x4) :-(
I was thinking of driving over on Saturday morning (from the Midlands), and seeing how the road conditions pan out.
I did wonder if the forecast rain (after snow) would wash away any lying snow.
We'll see what Saturday morning brings.
Wow, you didn't make it with a 4X4 ? When I didn't make it a couple of years ago I was thinking to myself ... "I wish I had a 4X4"
4x4 is great in the snow, but on frozen compacted and re-frozen snow on an incline, it can be quite hairy to get a heavy vehicle moving. Once it is moving, it is even more difficult to get it stopped.
4x4 has it's uses, but quite occasionally not as good as we'd hope.
Why not contact RSPB Lake Vyrnwy before you set out ?
