The Vyrnwy estate has six scheduled Ancient Monuments among a large number of sites of archaeological interest. Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust has co-ordinated several significant surveys over the past ten years ago, and their reports are extremely informative - about the historical upland landscape, for example, and the so-called Hospitium of the Knights Hospitaller of St John of Jerusalem.
