I must admit I haven't been to Lake Vyrnwy for a long time! However, I think it's a wonderful place.
I need to ask a quetion about what I saw there apart from birds.
What I saw was not a rabbit, a stoat or weasel (it was too big); so the only thing I can think it was is a Polecat? I saw it next to a farm, running along the edge of the road, which had a high bank. I had a long view of it but I was so puzzled about what it was that I didn't even think of the possibility.
Is it possible it was a Polecat I saw? Do they exist round about there?
I know I'll never be sure but even the idea I may have seen one excites me!
Thanks Eck
Birds for ever!
Hi Eck - apologies for the delay, have only just seen this.
Yes, polecat is entirely possible - we have logged polecat tracks in the snow and I believe there have been other recent records. It would be good if you could come up with a more accurate idea of location - but I guess that's asking a lot after the event!
Thanks for mentioning this - all records are warmly welcomed.
