Yes, remarkably we are on time this week. Miracles never cease! Right, with no further ado, let's crack on and look at some maps.

Well, that's a pretty good variety of stuff. Which mostly sets the scene for the rest of the week.

Has to be said the turtle doves aren't always being the easiest birds to…

  • Frampton Marsh recent(ish) sightings: 21 April - 10 May

Howdy folks, and welcome back to the sorely neglected recent sightings blog. With me, Chris the visitor guy!

Right, sorry for the radio silence over the last couple of weeks. A combination of factors meant that the blog never got done for what is nearly 3 weeks now. I'm off tomorrow on leave, but couldn't face leaving it for another week. So here it is. I hope you'll forgive me.

Right, there are a lot of…

Howdy folks! Welcome back to the Frampton and Freiston recent sightings. With me, Chris the visitor guy!

What is that? What happened to last week's edition? Er, yes. Chris has been a baaaaaaad boy, and didn't do the blog for last week. Oops, sorry! Oh well, double the delight this time. Shall we see what we missed?

Very mobile garganeys delighted those lucky enough to find them. Needless to say, I wasn't one…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 31 March - 6 April 2018

Howdy folks! Welcome back to the Frampton Marsh recent sightings blog. With me, Chris the visitor guy!

Did you all have a nice Easter? Weather was a bit.... soggy, wasn't it? But did that have any effect on the birds? Well, let's have a look...

Apologies for the dodgy writing. The pen doesn't like it when the board is damp from rain!

The white wagtail (the continental version of our pied wagtail) proved…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 24 - 30 March 2018

Howdy folks! Welcome back to the Frampton Marsh sightings blog. With me, Chris the Visitor Guy!

Another bit of leave for me last week, hence the lack of a blog then. But back again now, to keep you all informed of what is going on. So, as usual, time for some maps:

Good to see the beardies got through Beast from the East, part deux.

Still the party of whoopers about....

Two days in a row for a red kite. Are…

  • Egg-spect Easter Egg-citement!

You are in for a fun-filled Easter holiday at RSPB Frampton Marsh, with a whole clutch of special activities.

All through the school break, you can turn detective and try to crack the clues on the Wild Things Easter egg hunt.

After picking up an entry sheet from the visitor centre, you follow the tricky trail and unscramble the puzzle. If you get the answers right, when you return to the centre you win a chocolatey…

  • Introducing a new face

There is a new face in town. You may have seen him in yesterday's guillemot video on Facebook and twitter. Matthew is joining us for the first half of a year-long internship, learning the skills to become a warden on a nature reserve. this is what he has to say:

    -----------------------------------

    Hey there!

I’m an Animal Behaviour graduate with a passion for conservation! I’m interested in all aspects of wildlife…

  • Frampton Marsh (and Freiston Shore) recent sightings: 10 - 17 March 2018

Howdy folks! Welcome back to the Frampton Marsh recent sightings blog. With me, Chris the Visitor Guy. Yes, I know it has been a while. As often happens I had a lot of leave to take before the end of the financial year, but I am back now.

So it appears is winter. As I write this the wind is howling outside, there is a smattering of snow and all the birds are shivering. Still, there are some signs of spring at least.…

  • Important information about visiting our reserves from 1 April 2018

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 10 - 16 February 2018

Howdy folks! Welcome back to the Frampton Marsh weekly sightings blog. With me, Chris the visitor guy!

Half-term in Lincolnshire means Toby is off, enthusing his kids about nature. So no round-up vlog this week. I'll put finding out how to do them on my own 'to do' list! But for the meantime, lets do some maps!

The flock of whooper swans remains feeding during the day to the south of the reserve, and sometimes…

  • Frampton Marsh (and Freiston Shore) sightings: 3 - 9 February 2018

Howdy folks! Welcome back to the Frampton Marsh weekly sightings blog.

No vlog this week, so lets get straight onto the maps.

Quite a busy map there, especially at the river mouth. But hold your horses, you ain't seen nothing yet!

That was a lot of stuff out on the sea! As it says, epic!

What isn't so epic is that we don't appear to have maps for Monday to Wednesday. Ooops! Sorry about that, not sure what…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 27 January > 2 February 2018

  • Frampton Marsh (and Freiston Shore) recent sightings: 20 - 26 January 2018

So, what has been about in the past week? Well, here is Toby with the video round up. or we can fire up the time machine and look at a few maps...

Not too bad a day last Saturday, plenty of interest around. Sunday on the other hand was a lot of snow and not many birds. So no map for then.

The male hen harrier(s) have been quite showy of late…

  • Frampton Marsh and Freiston Shore recent sightings: 13 > 19 January 2018

    Hello hellooooooo.

Bit of a change of tact this week. We're trying to streamline the sightings a little more so no faffing about with copying and pasting a weeks worth of maps into several links. This means no more backwards and forwards and lots of clicking between the blog and Twitter either. All you need to do is click once, right here, and you have all the tweeterings in one place. Remember, you don't have to…

  • New Year, New Opportunities?

    Howdy folks!

Chris the Visitor Guy here, but not with the weekly sightings. Toby has been doing a fine job with those whilst I am dotting in and out, using up my annual leave. No, instead i'd like to mention some of the volunteering opportunities we have here at the reserve.

The new year is a time when a lot of people make resolutions, trying to improve themselves. Often these are along the lines of lose weight…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 6 - 12 January 2018

Hello and welcome to the weekly sightings blog. Hopefully enough of a whistle wetter to entice you down for a leg stretch over the weekend or sometime next week.

I'll give you the usual breakdown of the weeks highlights and what to look for next week but if you want to get a feel for what to expect on a visit, Steve's blog about his visit on Sunday morning is well worth a read.

So here are your sightings maps…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 30 December 2017 - 5 January 2018

Going to race through the sightings this week as we don't have many pictures uploaded to illustrate the sightings this week. I knocked out a few exceptionally mediocre phone scoped images to try and add something and have recorded a few videos though so do check back over the weekend/next week as I will hopefully have been able to add them.

Ooops, forgot to wish you all a Happy New Year! Hope you all made a sensible…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 23 > 29 December 2017

Welcome to the final sightings blog of the year. We hope you've not only enjoyed reading them, but using them as a guide to get the best out of your visits to the reserve during 2017. • The RSPB Frampton week in tweets collection

We're trying to play around with social media and different ways of communicating what's happening on the reserve with you all. This started with the vlogs we've been doing, but we've also been toying with another feature called Twitter moments. We basically pick some of the tweets that visitors have made about Frampton or while on the reserve and lumped them together in one place to give you a feel for…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 16 - 22 December 2017

Howdy folks! Welcome back to the Frampton Marsh recent sightings. With me, Chris the visitor guy. And a merry Christmas to all our readers too.

Right, so what has been about? Er, well bits and bobs. Cue the maps...

Sunday was rather rubbish weather, with only a merlin, a kingfisher and a stoat being of note, and those all around the centre.

Cetti's warblers are usually very skulky, so this one was a surprise…

  • The vlog blog

    Helloooooooo,

We've been trying different ways to get what we're up to on the reserve across to everyone and have recently started vlogging. We found this to be a quick and effective way to get stories out to people who may be interested in what goes on on the reserve. It is a lot less time consuming than blogging so has benefits for us but the real question is, does if work for you? We've had lots of positive…

  • The Unexpected Guest

Saturday was a pretty normal day out on the reserve. I had just finished closing up the visitor centre and drove back to the office. As I got out of the van, there was movement near my feet and a funny noise. Looking down, I saw a furry little face looking back up. Sat at my feet was a grey kitten, mewing up at me. I obviously said hello and suggested it make its way home, which I assumed was the house next to the office…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 9 - 15 December 2017

Howdy folks! Welcome back to another edition of the Frampton Marsh sightings blog. With me, Chris the visitor guy!

Right, a bit more time this week so I'll get some nice photos in at the end of the maps. But first, what has been seen during the week?

The most exciting development of the week revolved around the winter plumage black guillemot that was found on Thursday. There were a few people that popped down to see…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings - 9th > 15th December

Sup suuuuuuuuup!!! I've been doing essential (but not fun stuff) at the computer all day so with Chris being away, what better excuse than to take a break and relax by knocking out this weeks sightings.

For those of you wondering what's been around this week and what you can expect to see this weekend, here are your maps from last weekend and earlier in the week, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th

    The most exciting…

  • Frampton Marsh recent sightings: 2 - 8 December 2017

Howdy folks, and welcome back to a short sightings blog this week. Just the bare bones maps this time. Next week I'll get more photos in.

    So, what has been about?

As you can see, the starling murmuration is sort of on. Though they have not quite got their timings together and still come in as several groups. Some nights they don't even murmurate but dive straight into the reeds. Worth a punt to see though…
