Today's visit 10th May '14

Today's visit was pleasant, first time I've been to Fowlmere in May.

I saw the usual: blackbird, song thrush, robin, dunnock, greylags, mallards, chiffchaffs (heard lots but didn't see any!), long tailed tits, great tit...

Then I saw some slightly less common birds and some firsts!

The sky was full of swifts and martins (not sure if house or sand, there were sightings of sand martins but I couldn't tell the difference...). It was awesome being in the reedbed hide with the swifts coming so close you can hear their wings beating!

I got a really good view of what I believe was a willow warbler (a first), with the slight yellow to the underside. Very small bird! Was fun watching it picking flys out of the air.

The notice infront of the barn owls said the male had been kicked out and was sulking in the abandoned box but I think he's been allowed back in now. I could see one face (photo below!) in the barn owl box and just make out a shape to the rear, unless there is another clutch of chicks?

Anyway, hope you enjoy my bad photos!

Is this a predated greylag egg?
