Fowlmere July 2nd 2019

Spent a wonderful day wandering around RSPB Fowlmere. I think my main spot today, was the Green Sandpiper, also 20+ Lapwings, 5 Grey Herons, Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker, Greenfinch, Barn Owl. Kingfisher, Carrion Crows, Wood Pigeon, Reed Warblers, Cettis Warblers, Sedge Warblers. I think I should stop there.

Well, here are just a few of the photos I took around Fowlmere today.

  Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker

   Grey Herons

  Green Sandpiper

  Barn Owl

I hope you like the brief selection. DO not want to post too many

  • Great spots Phil, never saw the Kingfisher when I was there, and the Barnie was in the tree next to the box, well hidden.

I saw the Kingfisher from the Drewer Hide, looking out to the left towards the Water Marker. I managed the one photo, as I think it was nervous of the Grey Heron, which was also very close to it. I spent around 2 hours in each of the hides. Was a total relaxing day with some good views, but some very bad photos :( Still I managed a few reasonable ones.
