Fowlmere visit

Sorry posted this attached to another thread as couldn't find how to start new one (until today)! A lovely few hours at Fowlmere this morning (6th). Had a good view of a mink along the nature trail path which I then saw head along the stream Several woodpeckers - green & great spotted. 4 teal at the main hide. Any reports of bitterns at the minute? -i could have sworn I heard a boom (just by spring hide -looking towards the main hide) just briefly and enough to wonder if I imagined it. I also spotted a pair of bullfinches. Always lovely to see the barn owls at least one visible at the nest box.

Sounds like you did have a lovely time! I've yet to see bullfinches anywhere at all.

A bit worrying about the mink.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

I think a Bittern was mentioned a few weeks ago over there, I haven't seen Mink there this year but wondered if they were still around,

Thanks for the replies. Clare - I have been lucky in seeing bullfinches here and at a wood near my home but these are the first sightings in a long while.

Denise - great video of the minks. I had not seen one properly before so wasn't 100% sure what it was at first. I was not camera ready that day!

Still not sure about that bittern either.
