Sunday evening

A good evening on the reserve last night! Pretty quiet in spring hide bar the woodpigeons, water rails (squealing but not visible) and a few dragonflies although a rodent swan across the water under the new bank, probably rat. A bit livelier in the Drewer hide with the fallow deer spooking an otter down the channel towards the hide, some good views but not long enough to get any decent pictures unfortunately! At the reedbed hide the kingfisher did a lap and just after the sun had set a barn owl flew out across the reedbed. Not bad!

Got some interesting stuff on the bat detector as well on the way back to the car park, plenty of action between 40-50KHZ (pipistrelles) and plenty of wet slaps at 20khz (noctule i think).
