  • Had a look in my wildlife book and I think it might be a SOUTHERN HAWKER. It's a great photo and with luck I might get to see one myself soon as we plan to visit Old Moor some time in next couple of days.

  • Thanks Melonie my wildlife book doesn't show Southern Hawker, great excuse to buy a better book at the Birdfair this year, but seeing photos on the internet of Southern Hawker it looks a cert, Thanks

  • You are welcome. The book is a Collins photoguide book, COMPLETE BRITISH WILDLIFE. I have had this copy for a few years now but there are other books that appear to have the same title, which is confusing, so if you do buy a copy it's ISBN number is 0-583-33638-8 and on the front cover there are pics of an owl, butterfly, snake, starfish, acorns, flower and fancy toadstool or mushroom. It was 14.99 but I have seen it for sale on amazon for less, and that was new copies. It's a really good guide and makes identifying things ever so easy (still a learner at this game so it's my bible) Have fun
