we are going to be using this spot for a raised pond, any tips of things to include in or around it? its at the side garden on the right side of our house, next to the sheds and it gets quite a bit of sun during summer..x thanks xx

As it's a raised pond you probably won't find too many frogs or toads taking to it unless you build up a ramp in and out of it, this may or may not be on your mind but it's something to consider. If you do put in a 'toad ramp' you might want to ensure that there is a shallow end and a deep end. This gives a good spawning area if they find it and also creates a bit of habitat diversity in the pond which may enable you to attract in a wider range of aquatic critters.
A shallow end with a muddy bank and a perch at water level may also be popular with the local birds for drinking, bathing and using the mud for nest building.
