I have some spare time next week and just wondering if it is a tad too early to clean out my fish pond?
Weather is cold but not really frosty now (Isle of Wight).
I would like to get it done soon as I may be too busy in a month or so.
I have already done my small 'wildlife' pond as there was nothing in it.
So shall I or not...?
It's not always easy to hug a hedgehog.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Hi madpenguin, as I'm looking out at a foot of snow I can only envy you!
It is, I believe, illegal to collect spawn from the wild
-6 here... and snow! Not a sign of spring yet. Indeed we've still got snow drops.
A bird in the hand can make an awful mess!
Miraculously my frog spawn survived being repeatedly frozen and thawed and now my pond is teeming with life. You live and learn and I won't fret as much in the future!
Hi Wren,
Really pleased your Frog Spawn survived, because quite a few people I know have lost most of theirs, I did put some in a container and it did really well. Then I transfered to pond when the weather improved.
Pleased I did because the rest of it that was in my pond did not actually freeze but seemed to just vanish and sank to the bottom of my pond. But at least the tadpoles I have are doing really well :)
Glad you managed to save some of yours. I thought I'd drop a picture of it in here :)
Thats brilliant they all look like they are thriving, great picture!! I am pleased to say mine are still doing well and are getting bigger so we should have a few Froglets this year hopefully :)
