has anyone else got frogspawn in their pond? We usually have by now but as yet we havnt even seen a frog in the pond. Just checked now and none at all. Maybe this cold snap is making them wait until its a litttle warmer?
A neighbour has frogs in the pond, don't know about spawn yet tho'.
Lot to learn
Hi Judith,
I posted on the 4th or 5th of Feb to say I had First Frogspawn in my pond. We also have several frogs mating but no more frogspawn yet. Mine is really early to I am hoping it will be ok but will have to wait and see!!
We have been protecting at night because of the cold weather by putting a large board over the pond. I looked today and I am sure that the frogspawn is changing shape, so fingers crossed, I would love to have some tadpoles from it!!
I have just recently joined Froglife which is a organisation to help all Frogs Toads and all amphibians, they are doing such good work to try and help with conservation of amphibians.
Loss of habitat being a big factor, so pleased you have a pond, hope you get some frogspawn in your pond soon :)
no frogs seen yet in norfolk
This years first spawn in my pond in Somerset on Saturday 2 March. This is about 2 weeks later than last year.
I have a pond and I had 2 resident frogs ;ast year. Ive been looking after the pond during winter and thawing it out by putting a pan of hot water on top of the frozen pond, so hopefully Ive done the right thing. Im keeping an eye on the pond but Ive seen so signs of spawn
Cheers, Jason
