Hope its okay but I put a question in the ID section about this..but thought maybe I should also post here...as it's specifically about water wildlife here.
It's a 'stick' that appeared in my pond about a fortnight ago. It looks to me like it might be a snorkel for a pond insect because it appears in different parts of the pond each day. And I've seen it jerk around sometimes. I didn't want to pull it out in case it damaged what was on the end of it.
Many thanks if anyone can help. Here are a close-up and wider pic.
Hi Brenda
Welcome to the Community :-)
All new threads from all forums can be seen on the latest posts list on the main forums page so you don't need to duplicate it.
It might be a little late in the evening so that is probably why it hasn't had any answers yet, but there are now 2 threads on the list
Best wishes Chris

Hi Brenda and welcome to the forum!
My guess would be a water scorpion who use a snorkel type breathing system. They are quite vicious little hunters preying on other pond insects etc......
This link tells you a bit more....

Its possibly a stick that attracts fish etc to nibble it.
I would gently pull it out. and take a look
