10 day old Dormouse hand reared by a friend :o)
Went to Aldi this morning to get one - they had loads! I was most impressed! I was also was impressed with the store as I'd never been in one before - I tend to look in other supermarkets see what they do, sad I know, lol!
I must have picked the dud kit as it required tweaking to get it together! Oh well, a little more effort but I'm most impressed - especially for the price! Can't complain at all...just have to find a place to put it now.
Anyone who likes ladders and drills are more than welcome to pop by, lol!
Glad you managed to get a box Paul.
Hubby has sorted out the camera and TV. The pictures are good quality. The box still needs assembling and apparently it needs a coat of preservative. However, we had an idea that we might put the camera in one of the existing sparrow terrace compartments that we know is being spring cleaned by the blue tits. They are used to this box and I have every reason to believe they may nest there, whereas a new box so late on in the year might not be used. We can still put the new box up without the camera.
There is a big problem. We don't possess a DVD recorder. We have a player but not a recorder. So that means if we do get a nest, I will have to beg, borrow or steal one.
Cheers, Linda.

Hi Sparrow, can I suggest you and hubby check out both Amazon and Play.com as they are really good for deals on electronic/computer gadgetry.
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hi dangerous
Just want to say a Big Thanks for letting us know about the boxes. Im quite new here, and only a few weeks ago (after reading about everyones nestboxes with cameras), I thought to myself how I would love to set one up in my garden, but was real disapointed when I realised the prices, they were too expensive for me to buy.
Now today I read your post, and got my husband to go and get me one from Aldi, and too my surprise, there were plenty there. We bought one, and Ive just assembled it, im so excited LOL!! Just got my fingers crossed now that we will get residents. My two young daughters are also excited about it, and if we are lucky enough, it will be a really good learning experience for them. Thankyou very much for sharing the tip :)

Thanks Squirrel, will do. I'll wait first though and see if we get a nest.
I'm so pleased everybody managed to get their cameras. This stuff can be so expensive but needn't be.
We've opened one of the boxes and put it in a hedge, crossing fingers for a robin. We have a cheap scart splitter from Amazon and can change between cameras on a small television in the dining room.

Wow! How lovely! Thanks!
Alas, no where to put a nest box so I'll have to wait until they are back in next year :-( Or the year after...
