Aldi have these this Thursday.
I have nestcams already but am going to get one to put in a robin box
Squirrel B said:Hi Sparrow, that link comes up as Sunday 8th February 2009 for me. Should it be a different one?
Squirrel - Now I know I need to see an optician!!!!! You are quite right, it is an old webpage. Well spotted.
HOWEVER, I hereby apologise to Aldi for my cynical remarks about a ploy to get folk into stores. After reading what Dangerous has to say about his store, and his new nest box, I mentioned it to hubby ... and he offered to come with me the 10 miles to our nearest store to get one. It was well after 2pm when we arrived and they had some left, so I now have a nest box and camera.
Thank you to Dangerous for providing the original information.
Cheers, Linda.

Oooh goodie Sparrow - videos for us to watch before long then... yes? (Is hubby out there now fixing it up - and if not, why not.....? LOL)
The necessity of bird-watching is a really good reason for avoiding all forms of housework.
The dust will still be there tomorrow - the birds may not be!
Hi Squirrel, it won't be difficult to persuade him to assemble it - he enjoys that sort of thing, especially as it involves scart leads and cables! I can hear him drilling as I write. It may be more difficult to get him up the ladders to put it on the wall. I am willing to lay a large bet that the birds use the 3 sparrow terrace compartments already up, and ignore this new one with the camera!
Notice required for the terrace one then:-
"Be a star, be on t.v. Now filming for Birds Have Got Talent. This way for auditions please"
and arrows pointing to the new!
I'm sure they'll use it. I think I could put up a terrace of twenty and they'd all be filled. Sparrows like company.
We put two swift boxes up last year and hung them with the entry holes underneath to deter starlings from nesting.
We've had sparrows in them all winter!
They are very untidy though and absolutely FILL the nest box. When the female is laying she roosts elsewhere overnight so you can nip in with a pair of scissors and trim the nesting material down a bit so that the goings-on aren't hidden. Our pair didn't seem to mind at all last year.
Looking forward to the pictures.
LOL Squirrel, but it may be worth a try!!!!
Hi Dangerous,
Thanks for the thought - I hope you are right, and I love the story of the sparrows in the swift boxes! My sparrows haven't even investigated their terrace yet, and it has been up since November, but the blue tits have, and have been using them to roost on cold nights. They have also been spring cleaning two of the compartments and systematically removing the shredded paper I put in to keep them warm during the snow!
Ah, in which case you should put reduction plates on those that are being spring cleaned. This is nesting behaviour. AND ............................ put a new terrace up elsewhere?
ROFL - Oh boy! Sparrow's hubby is going to love that suggestion........NOT.
Ear defenders at the ready everyone.
Oh Dangerous, you really are well named!! What a dangerous suggestion ... but an excellent one. However, Squirrel, please pick yourself up off the floor, I'll wait until next year!!!!!
