Hi Bird lovers out there, can anybody help me, I have seen on the small bird nesting boxes site that you are supposed to put hay inside, my question
is can I use dry moss from my dodgy lawn!
Markie.
As Alan says don't put anything inside.
Certainly come nesting time spread your moss etc about the garden away from the box and leave them to it

Hi Alan, I want to post the picture, but it might take a while, looks a bit heavy to me!!!
Cheers, be on next Sunday Markie.
Cheers Ian, Thanks for your reply.
Markie, ( mark).
Hi Alan & everyone, I`m absolutely gutted, really gutted, this morning I was taking some
more photos, and I saw a little chick sticking his head out of the box. I was looking at the
photos I had just taken when I heard a loud flapping & squawking noise, & saw our cat
running away with the chick in his mouth, It had fallen out of the box. I don`t know if It
was fledging or just fell. I managed to get It from the cat but he was in a bad way buy
now, so I had to stop him suffering. I`v seen the adults coming back to the box with food
and you can see they don`t understand where there chick has gone, It Is so upsetting.
I don`t suppose they will have another one now, It must be to late. and there must have been only one chick. I thought they would have had 2 or 3.
Next year I think I`ll put some sort of catch net a couple of foot under the box, can`t have
this again!
( gutted ) Mark.
Hi Ian, got some bad news.
Mark.
