Now 5 days since the adult bluetits visited the camera nestbox. I have taken it down (as adviced) and sadly have 4 dead chicks - only hatched approx 4 days ago.
I removed the nest(work of art) planning to replace the box. Unfortunately the cable is faulty.
Should I replace it in case the birds come back? I have 1 feeding on my feeders, no sign of the ? female(2nd) BT - she may have been killed.
I can buy a replacement lead but that will take a week and I wondered would it be used if I put it back immediately.
Should I leave the nest in - in case they return - or is it better to leave it totally empty.
Thanks for all the help.
I would clean out the box and replace it. sort the cable out for next year.
